Hello, I am Yanxin Schmidt. Most people know me by my nickname, Lucienne. I am an Acton resident running for the school committee. My family and I have lived in Acton since 2018. I have two children attending McCarthy-Towne Elementary School.
I believe collaboration between the towns and the schools is crucial to the success of every student. Since moving to Acton, I have driven Meals on Wheels for the homebound senior citizens in Acton and Boxborough, written articles for the Economic Development Committee to promote local businesses, organized school-wide literacy events, served on a principal search committee and co-chaired AB School's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Family Advisory Group. Currently, I provide free language assistance to local families in need, I write a monthly column for my children's elementary school bulletin to promote diversity, equity and inclusion, and I serve as the 2nd Vice President for Boston Area Youth Soccer (BAYS), providing support for 52 recreational youth soccer clubs in the Greater Boston Area. Prior to moving to Acton, I worked as a volunteer instructor at United States Military Academy at West Point, tutoring cadets in Mandarin Chinese.
While preparing to run for the school committee, I completed “Charting The Course” by MASC Academy for School Leadership. I am confident that my thoughtful approach and effective communication skills will serve our community well.
