My name is Yanxin Schmidt, and I am running for the school committee. I want to strengthen the relationship between the Acton-Boxborough Regional School District and the Town of Acton. Community support is critical for AB Schools to be able to provide all students with excellent educational service. I have been a parent-volunteer in the AB Schools since 2018, when my eldest child started at McCarthy-Towne. My interactions with students, educators and parents/guardians of other students have helped me understand the needs of our students, as well as the challenges our educators and families face today. I currently serve as the 2nd Vice President for Boston Area Youth Soccer (BAYS) where I draft policies and oversee the budget with the assistance of our treasurer so that our league can provide support for 52 recreational youth soccer clubs in the Greater Boston Area. If elected, I will work to support the needs of all students, keep all of our community members informed of school decisions, and be mindful of the tax burden that is shouldered by Acton residents. I hope to get your vote on April 25th.
